By or Through

Most modern bibles, including the NKJV, have "that all things are made through him" rather than "that all things are made by him.

For example:

ESV All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

NIV Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

NKJV All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

When using "by" or "through" in a sentence or phrase, the meaning of that sentence or phrase will change, and in the case of scriptures these two words, depending on how they are used, completely change doctrine.

If I state that all things are made "by" something, then I am stating that all things are made "by" that something; that something made it. If I state that all things are made "through" something, then I am stating that that something was utilized in the making of that thing, but that thing which was made did not originate from that something. Did the Son of God make all things, yes or no?
