Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Who exactly is Isaiah 9:6 referring to?

It really depends on which text your Bible was translated from.

In the last verse of determining whether or not changing a word in a verse from “The” to “A” makes a difference, we will now look to see if removing a word and inserting a comma would also change the meaning.

In the translations that predate Mr. Westcott and Mr. Hort, Isaiah 9:6 is translated as follows:

Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful [1] (H6382), Counsellor [2] (H3289), The mighty God [3], The everlasting Father [4], The Prince of Peace [5].

In the above verse we can clearly define the titles of Christ, titles that are given to Christ and Christ alone.

Titles of Christ

His titles are as follows:

Wonderful
Counsellor
The mighty God
The everlasting Father
The Prince of Peace.

By using the article “The”, it clearly removes any and all ambiguity of who this passage is referencing. In addition, by having the comma between 1 & 2 we understand that Jesus is both a miracle:

Wonderful

a miracle: – marvellous thing, wonder (-ful, -fully).

Counsellor

to advise, consult, give counsel, counsel, purpose, devise, plan; counsellor (participle)

Modern Translation Issues

If we compare the above translation against the modern versions, we will see that the changes made enable this passage to become ambiguous, and leaves the reader asking the question, “who is this passage referring too?”

This is extremely dangerous, especially in our modern society, with the new age movement of a universal god where all roads leads to heaven; a new age movement leading the blind straight into the pits of hell.

Isaiah 9:6

(ESV) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor [1] , Mighty God [2], Everlasting Father [3], Prince of Peace [4].

Note: The NIV, NASB and NKJV all fall in line with the above rendering.

With the ESV rendition as they translated above, we now see that Jesus is no longer referred to as Wonderful and Counselor, but instead a Wonderful Counselor, thereby reducing his title to someone who was just a really good person that gives sound advice, hence Wonderful Counselor.

This simple removal of the comma not only takes away the miracle of Jesus, but also opens the conversation as to who this Wonderful Counselor might be.

The next issue we encounter is with the removal of the definite article “The”.

This change removes the absolute reference of whom the verse is referring to, therefore leaving it open to unnecessary interpretation.

By stating:

Mighty God, could the passage now be referring to someone other than “The Mighty God”, the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac – The one true God of Israel?

Everlasting Father, could this passage now be referring to a Priest, a Minister, a Cleric, a Pope?

Prince of Peace, could this now be referring to another besides Jesus Christ himself?

If you take some time and do a little research, you will be amazed at what you might find, and how other faiths are using this exact verse to bear false witness against Christianity and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Lets us go on now to Isaiah. Here we find many passages about a coming prophet which can be true only of Muhammad.

Not only does Mr. Nasir so arrogantly keep the article “The” in his deceptive writings, but he continues on with his blasphemous false statements.

These signs mentioned in Isaiah apply only to the Prophet of Islam.

Apparently Mr. Nasir is hoping that those who read his treacherous writings have never read the book of Isaiah in a translation that pre-dates Westcott and Horts manipulation. For if they did they would have know that Isaiah does indeed make another reference to this child in verse 7:14, which does not leave anything ambiguous including verse 9:6.

This verse 9:6 references Isaiah 7:14.

Isaiah 7:14 KJV Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

These changes, which many think are of no issue, are extremely dangerous and completely change the meaning of the verse; changes that allow the wolves to prey upon the sheep.

In addition, anyone who has studied Islam and the Bible – even vaguely – knows of the accounts of Jesus and Muhammad. It is clearly known that Jesus was for peace, whereas the followers of Islam followed a man whose code was war, death and carnage.

“Allah:”

“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.”

(Qur’an 8:12)

Muhammad:

“Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah.”

(Ibn Ishaq 992)

Jesus:

“Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

(Matthew 5:14)

Conclusion

Friends, we are living in a deadly age where wolves are all around us, looking to twist the Word of God.

Matthew 7:15 KJV Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

We must stand fast to defend the truth and expose the lie no matter what the cost might be.

Ephesians 5:11 KJV And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove G1651 them.

G1651 Of uncertain affinity; to confute, admonish: – convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke, reprove.

These wolves, of all beliefs, must not be allowed to continue to pervert the Word of God. We must rebuke all false teachings and not tolerate the changing of the scriptures. We have been warned by God Himself, and if we do not take heed to His warning, we will face His full wrath!

Revelation 22:18-19 KJV (18) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (19) And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
