Minuscule 8 (in the Gregory-Aland numbering), ε 164 (von Soden), is a Greek minuscule manuscript of the New Testament on parchment. Dated paleographically to the 11th century.[1]

Description

The codex contains the complete text of the four Gospels, on 199 parchment leaves (28.7 by 21.8 cm). Written in two columns per page, 22 lines per page. It contains Epistula ad Carpianum, Eusebian tables, prolegomena, pictures, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, lectionary markings, Menologion, Ammonian Sections, Eusebian Canons, and Synaxarion.[2][3] Passages John 5:3.4 and John 7:53-8:11 marked with obelus.[2]

Text

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the Byzantine text-type. Aland placed it in Category V.[4] It belongs to the textual family Family Kx.[5]

History

Formerly it belonged to Antonelli Petrucci, a secretary of Ferdinand I, king of Naples. Then to Fontainebleau.[2] This codex was used by Robert Estienne in his Editio Regia (1550), in which was designated as ζ'. In result its readings became a part of the Textus Receptus.

It was examined by Wettstein, Scholz, and Gregory (in 1884). Scholz examined only Gospel of John.[2]

The codex is located now at the National Library of France (Gr. 49) in Paris.[1]
