We all have some days that are better than others. Ever feel like you worked extra hard that day but still got nothing done? This is often a result of poor time management. This is not a state you have to be stuck in permanently. It is not impossible to fix your time management habits and skills. You simple need to adjust your behaviors with a bit of hard work. Different time management methods do exist. It might take you a little while to figure out what methods are going to work for you that maybe didn't work for someone else because we all have our preferences. Now, sit and write out your goals list. Writing them with paper and pen and keeping the list somewhere nearby is always best but you can also type them up on the computer. Doing this will make you feel like you can get back on track when you feel your focus start to wander. Daydreaming and other off task distractions can be curbed with this simple list of goals. Handwriting your goals has a more permanent feel than simply typing them into a word document which can easily be erased. Goals don't have to be monsterous, in fact they can be as small as you need them to be. So why not write them down. One simple way to make things easier for yourself is to break down large projects into smaller, more manageable ones. It's easier to get a handle on a large job when you can work on it one piece at a time. If you plan far enough in advance you can even work on that project over several days, which will help keep it fresh and interesting. The fact is, when you have a very large challenge to complete, you are likely to put it off as long as possible. Such big projects leave people with a sense of dread that they will be impossible to ever complete. When you separate it into smaller jobs, however, the whole thing seems simpler and more workable.

Don't discount the importance of scheduled breaks. I don't know anyone who can go all day and still remain happy with their position without regulars "me" times. Keep your brain and body well rejuvenated with a little chunk of time to unwind and relax each day even if only for a few moments. Your brain is a complicated being that has proven time and again to function more efficiently after returning from abreak period. So make time for break time in your busy schedule at least a few times each day. You will see just how much your mind and body will thrive with these little blips in the schedule. Your emotions certainly need it. Do not let any other person convince you otherwise. Learning good time management skills is something that everybody can do. Just remember, it's something that takes some patience and commitment. Developing new habits can be difficult, especially if the habits already in place are bad. Dropping old ways and developing new ones may take time and effort. You should expect to run into challenges, but don't let that stop you.
