List of Omitted Bible Verses
From Textus Receptus
This is a list of Bible verses and phrases that are present in the King James Version but absent from most bible translations completed after 1881 which are based upon the corrupt Alexandrian text-type.
Bart D. Ehrman, an agnostic Biblical scholar and critic, falsly claims that some of the most known verses were not part of the original text of the New Testament. "These scribal additions are often found in late medieval manuscripts of the New Testament, but not in the manuscripts of the earlier centuries," he adds. And because the King James Bible is based on later manuscripts, such verses "became part of the Bible traditon in English-speaking lands." Many critics of the Textus Receptus and the King James Version have similar concepts, believing that the Received Text and versions based upon it are corrupt and add 1000's of words, whereas the position of those who hold that the versions based upon the Textus Receptus is that modern versions omit from the sacred text.
List of omitted Bible verses
The designation omitted Bible verses is used here in a technical sense to indicate text for which a verse number has been reserved but which is not present. All verses listed are quoted from the King James Version.
O=omitted
