4章


1節 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. そのときイエスは悪魔(あくま)より試(こころ)みらるべく、荒野(こうや)にまで霊(れい)に連(つ)れ往(ゆ)かれ給(たま)へり。 


2節 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

かくてイエス四十日(よんじゅうにち)と四十夜断食(やだんじき)し給(たま)ひて、後(あと)に飢(う)え給(きゅう)へり。


3節 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

また試(ためし)むる者彼(しゃかれ)に進(すす)み来(き)たりていへり、汝(なんじ)もし神(かみ)の子(こ)ならば、此等(これら)の石(いし)の、パンになるようにいへ。      


4節 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

然(しか)るに彼答(かれこた)へての曰(のたま)へり、人〔たる者〕は唯(ただ)パンのみにて生(い)くべからず、されど神(かみ)の口(くち)より出で往(い)くすべての詞(し)にて〔生(しょう)くべし〕、と録(ろく)されたり。


5節 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

そのとき悪魔(あくま)、彼を聖(ひじり)き市(し)に携(けい)へ〔往(い)き〕、且(か)つ彼を神(しん)殿(でん)の頂(ちょう)端(たん)に立(た)たせ。


6節 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

かくて彼(かれ)に云(い)う、汝(なんじ)もし、神(かみ)の子(こ)ならば、汝自身(なんじじしん)を投(な)げ落(おと)せ。そは彼(かれ)は汝(なんじ)に就(つ)きてその使等(しら)に命(めい)じ給(きゅう)はん、されば汝(なんじ)の足(あし)を石(いし)に衝(つ)き当(とう)つることなからんために、彼等(かれら)は手(て)にて汝(なんじ)を支(ささ)ふべし、と録(ろく)されたればなり。


7節 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

イエス彼に述(の)べ給(たま)へり、主(おも)、汝の神を試(ため)むべからず、と復(ま)た録(ろく)されたり。


8節 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

復(ま)た、悪(あく)魔(ま)、彼を甚(はなは)だ高(たか)き山(やま)に携(たずさ)へ〔往(い)けり〕。かくて此(こ)の世(よ)のすべての国々(くにぐに)とその栄光(えいこう)とを彼(かれ)に見(み)(あわ)はし、


9節 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

且(か)つ彼(かれ)に云(い)う、汝(なんじ)もし伏(ふく)(bow)して我(われ)に平伏(ひれふ)(prostrate)さば、われ此等(これら)をすべて汝(なんじ)に与(あた)へん。


10節 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

そのときイエス彼(かれ)に云(い)い給(たま)ふ、往(ゆ)け、サタナ。そは主(おも)、汝(なんじ)の神(かみ)を拝(おが)(worship)し、且(か)つ唯彼(ただかれ)にのみ服事(ふくこと)すべし、と録(ろく)されたればなり。


11節 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

そのとき悪(あく)魔(ま)彼を棄(き)つ。また見(み)よ、天(てん)使(し)等(ら)進(すす)み来(き)たりて彼(かれ)に事(こと)へたり。


12節 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

またイエスはヨハネの付(わた)されしことを聞(き)き給(たま)ひしとき、ガリラヤに立(た)ち退(しりぞ)き給(たま)へり。      


13節 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

かくてナザレを措(す)てて、ゼブルンとネフタリムの境(さかい)なる、海(うみ)辺(べ)のカペナウムに到(いた)りて住(す)み給へり。


14節 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

これ豫言者(よげんしゃ)イザヤによりて謂(い)はれしことの成(じょう)就(じゅ)せらるるためなりしなり、云(い)ひけるは、      


15節 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, [by] the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

ヨルダンの向(む)側(かい)、海(うみ)の道(みち)〔なる〕ゼブルンの地(ち)、またネフタリムの地(ち)、〔即(すなわ)ち〕国(こく)人(じん)のガリラヤ、      


16節 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

暗(くらき)に坐(ざ)す民(たみ)は大(だい)なる光(ひかり)を見(み)、また死(し)の地(ち)と死(し)の蔭(かげ)に坐(ざ)する彼等(かれなど)に光昇(ひかりのぼ)れり。      


17節 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

そのときよりイエス宣(の)べまた云(い)い給(たま)へり、悔(く)い改(あたら)めよ。そは天国(てんこく)は近(ちか)づきたればなり。      


18節 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

かくてイエスはガリラヤの海(うみ)の辺(へん)を歩(あゆ)みつつ、海(うみ)に投網(とあみ)を投(とう)ぐる、ペテロと云(い)はるるシモンと、その兄弟(きょうだい)なるアンデレとの二兄弟(にきょうだい)を見給(みたま)へり。そは彼等(かれら)は漁(すなど)り人(じん)なりければなり。       


19節 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

乃(すなわ)ち彼等(かれら)に云(い)ひ給(たま)ふ、我(われ)に跟(つ)き来(こ)れ、さればわれ汝等(なんじら)を人(ひと)の漁(あさ)り人(ひと)と為(な)すべし。      


20節 And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him.

乃(すなわ)ち彼等(かれら)は直(すぐ)に網(あみ)を差(さ)しおきて彼(かれ)に従(したが)へり。


21節 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

また彼(かれ)はそこより進(すす)み給(たま)ひて、別(べつ)の二兄弟(にきょうだい)を〔即(すなわ)ち〕ゼベダイのヤコブとその兄弟(きょうだい)なるヨハネとを見給(みたま)へり。彼等(かれら)は船(ふね)にてその父ゼベダイと共に、網(あみ)を繕(つくろ)へり。乃(すなわ)ち彼等(かれら)を召(め)し給(たま)へり。      


22節 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

されば彼等(かれら)は直(すぐ)ちに船(ふね)と父(ちち)とを差(さ)しおきて彼(かれ)に従(したが)へり。


23節 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

またイエス遍(あまね)くがりらやを巡(めぐ)り往(い)き給(たま)ひて、彼等(かれら)の会堂(かいどう)にて教(おし)え、また〔天(てん)〕国(こく)の福音(ふくいん)を宣(の)べ、且(か)つ民(たみ)のうちなる諸(もろもろ)の孱(かよわき)を癒(いや)し給(たま)へり。      


24節 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

さればその風聞(ふうぶん)あまねくスリヤに出で往(い)きたり。乃(すなわ)ち人々(ひとびと)、種々(しゅじゅ)の疾(やまい)また苦(くるしみ)に罹(かか)れる者(もの)、また悪鬼(あっき)に憑(つ)かれたる者(しゃ)。また癲癇(てんかん)また中風(ちゅうぶう)の者など、すべて悩(なや)ある者(もの)を連(つ)れ来(こ)れり。乃(すなわ)ち彼(かれ)はこれを癒(いや)し給(たま)へり。       


25節 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and [from] Decapolis, and [from] Jerusalem, and [from] Judaea, and [from] beyond Jordan.

かくてガリラヤ、またデカポリス、またエロソルマ、またユダ、またヨルダンの向側(むかいがわ)より〔来(こ)れる〕多(おお)くの群衆彼(ぐんしゅうかれ)に従(したが)いたり。
