* [[Luke 22:1 King James Version 2016|1]] Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called The Passover.
* [[Luke 22:2 King James Version 2016|2]] And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, because they feared the people.
* [[Luke 22:3 King James Version 2016|3]] Then Satan entered into Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
* [[Luke 22:4 King James Version 2016|4]] So he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains how he might betray Him to them.
* [[Luke 22:5 King James Version 2016|5]] And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
* [[Luke 22:6 King James Version 2016|6]] So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the crowd.
* [[Luke 22:7 King James Version 2016|7]] Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed.
* [[Luke 22:8 King James Version 2016|8]] And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
* [[Luke 22:9 King James Version 2016|9]] So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?”
* [[Luke 22:10 King James Version 2016|10]] And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters.
* [[Luke 22:11 King James Version 2016|11]] Then you will say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’
* [[Luke 22:12 King James Version 2016|12]] Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”
* [[Luke 22:13 King James Version 2016|13]] So they went and found it just as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
* [[Luke 22:14 King James Version 2016|14]] When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.
* [[Luke 22:15 King James Version 2016|15]] Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
* [[Luke 22:16 King James Version 2016|16]] because, I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”
* [[Luke 22:17 King James Version 2016|17]] Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves;
* [[Luke 22:18 King James Version 2016|18]] because, I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
* [[Luke 22:19 King James Version 2016|19]] And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
* [[Luke 22:20 King James Version 2016|20]] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you.
* [[Luke 22:21 King James Version 2016|21]] But behold, the hand of him who betrays Me is with Me on the table.
* [[Luke 22:22 King James Version 2016|22]] And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!”
* [[Luke 22:23 King James Version 2016|23]] Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.
* [[Luke 22:24 King James Version 2016|24]] Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest.
* [[Luke 22:25 King James Version 2016|25]] And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’
* [[Luke 22:26 King James Version 2016|26]] But you shall not be like this; but rather, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who rules as he who serves.
* [[Luke 22:27 King James Version 2016|27]] Because, who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as He who serves.
* [[Luke 22:28 King James Version 2016|28]] “You are those who have continued with Me in My trials.
* [[Luke 22:29 King James Version 2016|29]] And I appoint to you a kingdom, just as My Father has appointed to Me,
* [[Luke 22:30 King James Version 2016|30]] that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit upon thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
* [[Luke 22:31 King James Version 2016|31]] And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has desired to have you all, that he may sift you all like wheat.
* [[Luke 22:32 King James Version 2016|32]] But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you are converted, strengthen your brethren.”
* [[Luke 22:33 King James Version 2016|33]] But he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death.”
* [[Luke 22:34 King James Version 2016|34]] Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
* [[Luke 22:35 King James Version 2016|35]] And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”
* [[Luke 22:36 King James Version 2016|36]] Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise his knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his coat and buy one.
* [[Luke 22:37 King James Version 2016|37]] Because, I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ Because the things concerning Me have an end.”
* [[Luke 22:38 King James Version 2016|38]] So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
* [[Luke 22:39 King James Version 2016|39]] And He came out, and went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.
* [[Luke 22:40 King James Version 2016|40]] When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you do not enter into temptation.”
* [[Luke 22:41 King James Version 2016|41]] And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,
* [[Luke 22:42 King James Version 2016|42]] saying, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
* [[Luke 22:43 King James Version 2016|43]] Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
* [[Luke 22:44 King James Version 2016|44]] And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
* [[Luke 22:45 King James Version 2016|45]] When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.
* [[Luke 22:46 King James Version 2016|46]] Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
* [[Luke 22:47 King James Version 2016|47]] And while He was still speaking, behold, a crowd; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.
* [[Luke 22:48 King James Version 2016|48]] But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
* [[Luke 22:49 King James Version 2016|49]] When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
* [[Luke 22:50 King James Version 2016|50]] And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
* [[Luke 22:51 King James Version 2016|51]] But Jesus answered and said, “Proceed thus far, all of you.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
* [[Luke 22:52 King James Version 2016|52]] Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs?
* [[Luke 22:53 King James Version 2016|53]] When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not stretch your hand out against Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
* [[Luke 22:54 King James Version 2016|54]] Then they took Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance.
* [[Luke 22:55 King James Version 2016|55]] Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.
* [[Luke 22:56 King James Version 2016|56]] And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.”
* [[Luke 22:57 King James Version 2016|57]] But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”
* [[Luke 22:58 King James Version 2016|58]] And after a little while another saw him and said, “You also are of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”
* [[Luke 22:59 King James Version 2016|59]] Then after about an hour had passed, after another confidently affirmed, saying, “Surely this man was also with Him, because he is a Galilean.”
* [[Luke 22:60 King James Version 2016|60]] Then Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.
* [[Luke 22:61 King James Version 2016|61]] And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
* [[Luke 22:62 King James Version 2016|62]] So Peter went out and wept bitterly.
* [[Luke 22:63 King James Version 2016|63]] Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.
* [[Luke 22:64 King James Version 2016|64]] And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy! Who is it who struck You?”
* [[Luke 22:65 King James Version 2016|65]] And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.
* [[Luke 22:66 King James Version 2016|66]] As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying,
* [[Luke 22:67 King James Version 2016|67]] “Are You the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe.
* [[Luke 22:68 King James Version 2016|68]] And if I also ask you, you will not answer Me or let Me go.
* [[Luke 22:69 King James Version 2016|69]] After this the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”
* [[Luke 22:70 King James Version 2016|70]] Then they all said, “Are You then the Son of God?” So He said to them, “You say that I am.”
* [[Luke 22:71 King James Version 2016|71]] And they said, “What further witness do we need? Because we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”
