Micah 5:2
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
'Goings Forth' or 'Origin'
The word translated in the KJV as "going forth" [hebrew:mowtsa] is translated in other versions as "origins" - RSV, cf. JB, NEB, REB, NAB, NIV, AT, Mo, NRSV, NJB, Byington, and Young's. So the verse says Jesus had an “origin” or “originated (Hebrew “motsaah”). This is also used by the Jehovah's Witnesses. Origin means to " come into existence" - Webster's New World Dictionary, 1973. Micah 5:1 in The Jewish Publication Society's Bible translation, Tanakh). The NIV Study Bible, in a footnote for Micah 5:2 refers to Jesus': "origins...from of old. His beginnings were much earlier than his human birth."
