2 Chronicles 13:5 Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

2 Chronicles 13:5 Kingdom or Kingship?

Does it matter? As a matter of fact it does.

Kingship and kingdom do not imply or mean the same thing; one implies that the person is the supreme ruler and has total and complete irrevocable authority over the people and territory of which the kingdom resides, whereas the other, kingship, implies that the person is only granted the position of king over the kingdom in which he will oversee, but will still answer to the one who is in control of the kingdom – the one over the king. This also implies that the one who granted kingship can also take it away if he so chooses.

Therefore the question is, “which is it”?

Did the Lord our God give the Kingdom over Israel, the kingdom of God, to David and his sons, or did God only give David and his son’s kingship of the Kingdom over Israel?

Be careful how you answer this question, as it will change biblical Christian doctrine as you know it.

The issue at stake with 2 Chronicles 13:5 is that it deals with prophecy, the line of David, and from the line of David comes our Lord Jesus Christ – the Messiah.

2 Chronicles 13:5 KJV Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

This kingdom is not one that would be given kingship to the Messiah, but rather a Kingdom that would be given to Him exclusively, a Kingdom that would never be taken away. It is a Kingdom that is OVER Israel, and that Kingdom which is given to Jesus Christ by God is the Kingdom of God; the same kingdom where God will establish the throne of Jesus forever. A throne that will never be removed according to the promise of God, and as we know, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob does not lie.

2 Samuel 7:13 KJV He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

He shall build an house … – For the fulfillment of this in the person of Solomon, see 1 Kings 8:16-20. For its application to Christ, see John 1:12; Eph 1:20-22; 1Ti 3:15; Heb 3:6; etc.; and Zec 6:12-13.

I will stablish the throne of his kingdom forever – The words forever, emphatically twice repeated in 2Sa 7:16, show very distinctly that this prophecy looks beyond the succession of the kings of Judah of the house of David, and embraces the throne of Christ according to the Angel’s interpretation given in Luke 1:31-33, where the reference to this passage cannot be mistaken.

2 Samuel 7:16 KJV And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

Luke 1:31-33 KJV And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (33) And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Modern Translations

Yet, if we examine the modern translations of the scriptures this truth will be held from us, and the line of David will not be given the kingdom that is over Israel, but only kingship. This implies that Jesus Christ will not rule forever exclusively, but rather someone else will rule over him, and Jesus will only hold the position of a king that must answer to another.

2 Chronicles 13:5

(ESV) Ought you not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingship over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?

(NASB) “Do you not know that the LORD God of Israel gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?

(NIV) Don’t you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

(NKJV) Should you not know that the LORD God of Israel gave the dominion over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons, by a covenant of salt?

Which is pure unadulterated heresy, for it is written that I (Jesus) and my Father are one.

John 10:30 KJV I and my Father are one.

These modern translations continue to poison the minds of all who embrace them as they destroy the doctrine of Christianity as given by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember, God gave to His Son the kingdom of heaven from which He rules, and all that was made was made by the Word of God, and the Word of God was manifest in the flesh and dwelt among us, and that Word in the flesh is Jesus Christ.

John 1:1-3 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14 KJV And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

If you desire to know the truth of God, then you must come out of these modern day perversion and read from a bible that is based on the Received Text.

You have a choice to make, you can either to continue to rebel against God and follow the text of Satan, or you can submit yourself to God and study from a text that has not been corrupted, a text found in the King James Bible.

Psalm 12:6-7 KJV The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (7) Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
