University Library of Basle, one of the biggest libraries in Switzerland. It is located at the University of Basle, at 18 – 20 Schönbeinstrasse. It is also Kantonsbibliothek of Basel-City.
Local name of the library: Universitätsbibliothek. It contains more than 3 000 000 documents (1750 mediaeval manuscripts). Its collection includes numerous incunabula and manuscripts dating from the time of the Council of Basle (1431-87).
The majority of library resources are freely available in the public section. Most of the books can be electronically accessed and ordered.
