1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,
2 Abraham begot Isaac, and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brethren.
2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him.
3 And Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 And Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ would be born.
5 And Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,
5 And they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:
6 and Jesse begot David the king, and David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
6 ‘And you Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a Ruler that will rule My people Israel.’ ”
7 And Solomon begot Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.
7 Then Herod, when he had privately called the wise men, diligently inquired of them what time the star appeared.
8 And Asa begot Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.
8 And he  sent  them to  Bethlehem
9 And Uzziah begot Jotham, and Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah.
and said, “Go and search diligently for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.
10 And Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.
9 After they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young Child was.
11 And Josiah begot Jechoniah and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechoniah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.
11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
13 And Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.
12 And being warned by God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
14 And Azor begot Zadoc, and Zadoc begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.
13 Now when they had departed, behold,    the    angel    of    the    Lord
15 And Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.
appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee into Egypt, and wait there until I bring you word; because Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.
16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
14 When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed into Egypt,
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
15 and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I have called My Son.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child from the Holy Spirit.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked because of the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and killed all the children who were in Bethlehem and in all of its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary your wife, because that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
18 “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are no more.
21 And she will bear a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, because He will save His people from their sins.
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:
20 saying, “Arise, and take the young Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel, because those who sought the young Child’s
23 “Behold, a virgin will be with child, and will bear a Son, and they will call His name Immanuel,” which being translated is, “God with us.”

24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took to him his wife,
life are dead.
25 and did not know her until she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
21 Then he arose, and took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in the position of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. However, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.
