1 And one of the seven angels who had the seven vials came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come here. I will show to you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters,
1 Now after these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.
2 with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication."
2 And he shouted out mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has be-come    the     dwelling    place    for demons, and the prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hateful bird!
3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
3 Because    all    the    nations    have drunk of the grape juice of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abun-dance of her luxury.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you do not be partakers of her sins, and that you do not receive of her plagues.
5 And on her forehead a name was written: Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and Abominations of the Earth.
5 Because her sins have reached to heaven  and God  has  remembered her iniquities.
6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with great astonishment.
6 Repay  her  just  as  she  paid  you, and pay back to her double ac-cording to her works; in the cup that she has mixed, mix to her double.
7 And the angel said to me, "Why did you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived lavishly, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; because she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will see no sorrow.
8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, shall wonder when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, because mighty is the Lord God who judges her.
9 "And here is the mind that has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.
9 “And the kings of the earth who have  committed  fornication  and lived lavishly with her will weep for her, and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning,
10 And there are seven kings. Five have fallen, and one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.
10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city!  Because  in  one  hour  your judgment has come.
11 And the beast that was and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goes to destruction.
11 And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their mer-chandise anymore:
12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
  12 the merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood, and every kind of object of ivory, and every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble;
13 These have one mind and shall give their power and strength to the beast.
13 and cinnamon and incense, and fragrant oil and frankincense, grape juice and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, slaves and souls of men.
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are called and chosen and faithful."
14 And the fruits that your soul lusted after have departed from you, and all things that were dainty and splendid have departed from you, and you will not find them anymore.
15 And he said to me, "The waters that you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.
15 The merchants of these things who became rich by her, will stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And the ten horns that you saw on the beast, these shall hate the prostitute, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
16 and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls!
17 For God has put in their hearts to fulfill His will, and to agree and give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
17 Because in one hour such great riches came to nothing. And every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance
18 And the woman that you saw is that great city that reigns over the kings of the earth."
18 and cried out when they saw the smoke    of    her    burning,   saying, ‘What city is like this great city!’
19 And threw dust on their heads and shouted out, weeping and wailing, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in that all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! Because in one hour she is made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, because God has avenged you on her!”
21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a large millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will that great city Babylon be thrown down, and will not be found anymore.
22 And the sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trum-peters will not be heard in you anymore. And no craftsman of any craft he is, will be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone will not be heard in you anymore.
23 And the light of a lamp will not shine  in   you  anymore,   and   the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you anymore. Because, your merchants were the great men of the earth, because by your sorceries all the nations were deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets  and  of saints, and all who
were slain on the earth.
