1 And when they drew near to Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 saying to them, "Go into the village across from you, and immediately you shall find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to Me.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 And if any man says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them."
3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 "Tell the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting on a donkey, and a colt, the foal of a donkey.'"
5 While the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them,
6 "And at midnight there was a cry made: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming. Go out to meet him.'
7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and put their clothes on them, and they sat Him on them.
7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
8 And a very great multitude spread their garments on the road. Others cut down branches from the trees and scattered them on the road.
8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9 And the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried, saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there be not enough for us and you. But go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?"
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.
11 And the multitude said, "This is Jesus the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."
11 "Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'
12 And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves,
12 But he answered and said, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'
13 and said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called the house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of thieves."
13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14 And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
14 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants and delivered to them his goods.
15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were greatly displeased
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his separate ability, and immediately took his journey.
16 and said to Him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes. Have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of infants and nursing children You have perfected praise'?"
16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them another five talents.
17 And He left them and went out of the city into Bethany, and He lodged there.
17 And likewise he who had received two, he gained two others also.
18 Now in the morning as He returned to the city, He was hungry.
18 But he who had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord's money.
19 And when He saw a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves only, and said to it, "Let no fruit grow on you ever again." And presently the fig tree withered away.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, "How soon the fig tree has withered away!"
20 "And so he who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained five more talents besides them.'
21 Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you shall not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it shall be done.
21 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
22 And all things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive."
22 He who had received two talents also came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.'
23 And when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching and said, "By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?"
23 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
24 And Jesus answered and said to them, "I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things:
24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered.
25 The baptism of John—from where did it come? From heaven or from men?" And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'
25 And I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, there you have what is yours.'
26 But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the people, for all hold John as a prophet."
26 "His lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered.
27 And they answered Jesus and said, "We cannot tell." And He said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
27 Therefore you ought to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with interest.
28 "But what do you think? A certain man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.'
28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.'
29 He answered and said, 'I will not,' but afterward he repented and went.
29 'For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance. But from him who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away.
30 And he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, 'I will go, sir,' and did not go.
30 And cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.
31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His glory.
32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And you, when you saw it, did not repent afterward that you might believe him.
32 And all nations shall be gathered before Him, and He shall separate them from one another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33 "Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard, and put a hedge around it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and leased it out to farmers, and went into a far country.
33 And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, that they might receive its fruits.
34 Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 And the farmers took his servants and beat one and killed another and stoned another.
35 For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did likewise to them.
36 naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37 But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will reverence my son.'
37 "Then the righteous shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You? Or thirsty and give You drink?
38 But when the farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and let us seize his inheritance.'
38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in? Or naked and clothe You?
39 And they caught him and cast him out of the vineyard and slew him.
39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
40 "Therefore, when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?"
40 And the King shall answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, because you have done it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me.'
41 They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men and will lease his vineyard to other farmers who shall render him the fruits in their seasons."
41 "Then He shall also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone that the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner. This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?
42 For I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43 Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth its fruits.
43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in; naked and you did not clothe me; sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44 And whoever falls on this stone shall be broken. But on whomever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder."
44 Then they also shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them.
45 Then He shall answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, because you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
46 But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitude, because they took Him for a prophet.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
