1 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man who was a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.
1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
4 and said to them, 'You go also into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' And they went their way.
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour and did likewise.
5 While the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all the day?'
6 "And at midnight there was a cry made: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming. Go out to meet him.'
7 They said to him, 'Because no man has hired us.' He said to them, 'You go also into the vineyard, and whatever is right, that you shall receive.'
7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
8 "So when evening came, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.'
8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, every man received a penny.
9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there be not enough for us and you. But go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more. And likewise, every man received a penny.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.
11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the master of the house,
11 "Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'
12 saying, 'These last men have worked but one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and heat of the day.'
12 But he answered and said, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'
13 But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I did you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a penny?
13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14 Take what is yours and go your way. I want to give to this last man the same as to you.
14 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants and delivered to them his goods.
15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with my own? Is your eye evil because I am good?'
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his separate ability, and immediately took his journey.
16 So the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."
16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them another five talents.
17 And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples by themselves on the road and said to them,
17 And likewise he who had received two, he gained two others also.
18 "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes. And they shall condemn Him to death
18 But he who had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord's money.
19 and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify Him. And the third day He shall rise again."
19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 Then the mother of Zebedee's children came to Him with her sons, worshipping Him and desiring a certain thing from Him.
20 "And so he who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained five more talents besides them.'
21 And He said to her, "What do you want?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom."
21 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
22 But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."
22 He who had received two talents also came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.'
23 And He said to them, "You shall indeed drink of My cup and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with. But to sit on My right hand and on My left is not mine to give, but it shall be given to those for whom it is prepared by My Father."
23 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brothers.
24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered.
25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them.
25 And I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, there you have what is yours.'
26 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever wants to be great among you, let him be your minister.
26 "His lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered.
27 And whoever wants to be chief among you, let him be your servant,
27 Therefore you ought to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with interest.
28 even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered to but to minister and to give His life as a ransom for many."
28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.'
29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed Him.
29 'For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance. But from him who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away.
30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David."
30 And cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 And the multitude rebuked them because they should remain silent, but they cried the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David."
31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His glory.
32 And Jesus stood still and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?"
32 And all nations shall be gathered before Him, and He shall separate them from one another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33 They said to Him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened."
33 And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 So Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.
34 Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37 "Then the righteous shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You? Or thirsty and give You drink?
38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in? Or naked and clothe You?
39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
40 And the King shall answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, because you have done it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me.'
41 "Then He shall also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in; naked and you did not clothe me; sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44 Then they also shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'
45 Then He shall answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, because you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
