1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.
1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
2 In the midst of its street, and on either side of the river, there was the tree of life, which bore twelve kinds of fruit and yielded its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And said to Him, “Are You He who should come, or do we look for another?”
3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
4 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and show John again those things which you hear and see:
4 And they shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
5 The blind receive their sight and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
5 And there shall be no night there, and they need no candle or light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.
6 And blessed is he, who is not offended because of Me.”
6 And he said to me, "These sayings are faithful and true." And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show to His servants the things that must shortly be done.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
7 "Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book."
8 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in fine clothing? Behold, those who wear fine clothing are in kings’ houses.
8 And I, John, saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
9 Then he said to me, "See that you do not do it. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers the prophets, and of those who keep the sayings of this book. Worship God."
10 Because, this is he, of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You.’
10 And he said to me, "Do not seal the sayings of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand.
11 “Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than him.
11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he who is holy, let him be holy still."
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
12 "And, behold, I come quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give every man according to what his work is.
13 Because, all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
14 And if you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah who was to come beforehand.
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
15 For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie.
16 But to what shall I liken this generation? It is likened to children sitting in the marketplaces, and calling to their friends,
16 "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David and the bright and morning star."
17 and saying: ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we have mourned to you, and you did not lament.’
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let him who hears say, "Come." And let him who is thirsty come. And whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
18 Because, John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
18 For I testify to every man who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If any man adds to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book.
19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold a gluttonous man, and a wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”
19 And if any man takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things that are written in this book.
20 Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent:
20 He who testifies these things says, "Surely I come quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! Because, if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
22 But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.
23 And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to hell; because, if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.”
25 At that time Jesus responded and said, “I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.
26 Even so Father, because in this manner it seemed good in Your sight.
27 All things are delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son, except for the Father. Neither does anyone know the Father, except for the Son, and to the one whom the Son wills to reveal Him.
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and have a heavy burden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, because, I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 Because, My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
