1 And He entered into a ship, and crossed over, and came into His own city.
1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And behold, they brought to Him a paralyzed man, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the one who was paralyzed, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you."
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes."
3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
4 And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?
5 While the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"—then He said to the one who was paralyzed, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."
6 "And at midnight there was a cry made: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming. Go out to meet him.'
7 And he arose and departed to his house.
7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.
8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9 And as Jesus passed forth from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the place where tax was collected. And He said to him, "Follow Me." And he arose and followed Him.
9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there be not enough for us and you. But go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at dinner in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.
11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Master eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
11 "Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'
12 But when Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but those who are sick.
12 But he answered and said, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you.'
13 But go and learn what this means: 'I will have mercy and not sacrifice.' For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance."
13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?"
14 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants and delivered to them his goods.
15 And Jesus said to them, "Can the children of the bridechamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast.
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his separate ability, and immediately took his journey.
16 No man puts a piece of new cloth on an old garment. For what is put in to fill it up takes from the garment, and the tear is made worse.
16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them another five talents.
17 Nor do men put new wine into old bottles. Otherwise the bottles break, and the wine runs out, and the bottles perish. But they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved."
17 And likewise he who had received two, he gained two others also.
18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a certain ruler came there and worshipped Him, saying, "My daughter is even now dead, but come and lay Your hand on her and she shall live."
18 But he who had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord's money.
19 And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 And behold, a woman who was diseased twelve years with an issue of blood came behind Him and touched the hem of His garment.
20 "And so he who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained five more talents besides them.'
21 For she said to herself, "If I can but touch His garment, I shall be healed."
21 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her, He said, "Daughter, be of good comfort; your faith has made you well." And the woman was healed from that hour.
22 He who had received two talents also came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.'
23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
23 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
24 He said to them, "Leave, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping." And they laughed Him to scorn.
24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered.
25 But when the people were sent out, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
25 And I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, there you have what is yours.'
26 And the news of this went out into all that land.
26 "His lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered.
27 And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying and saying, "Son of David, have mercy on us."
27 Therefore you ought to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with interest.
28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."
28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.'
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be to you."
29 'For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance. But from him who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away.
30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no man knows it."
30 And cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 But they, when they had departed, spread the news about Him in all that country.
31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His glory.
32 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a mute man possessed with a demon.
32 And all nations shall be gathered before Him, and He shall separate them from one another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, "This has never been seen in Israel."
33 And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons through the prince of the demons."
34 Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 And Jesus went around to all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
35 For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they fainted and were scattered about, like sheep having no shepherd.
36 naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37 Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
37 "Then the righteous shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You? Or thirsty and give You drink?
38 Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest."
38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in? Or naked and clothe You?
39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
40 And the King shall answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, because you have done it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me.'
41 "Then He shall also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in; naked and you did not clothe me; sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44 Then they also shall answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'
45 Then He shall answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, because you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
