1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.
1 The   Pharisees    along    with    the Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.
2 Abraham begot Isaac, and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brethren.
  2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, because the sky is red’;
3 And Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.
3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, because the sky is red and overcast.’ O you hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times?
4 And Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.
4 A wicked and adulterous gen-eration seeks after a sign; and there will be no sign given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them, and departed.
5 And Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,
5 Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 and Jesse begot David the king, and David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
6 Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sad-ducees.
7 And Solomon begot Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have not taken bread.
8 And Asa begot Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.
8 Which when Jesus perceived it He said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among your-selves because you have brought no bread?
9 And Uzziah begot Jotham, and Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah.
9 Do you still not understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up?
10 And Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.
10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand  and   how    many  huge baskets you took up?
11 And Josiah begot Jechoniah and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon.
11 How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak this to you concerning bread, but that you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?”
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechoniah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.
12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
13 And Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.
13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I the Son of Man, am?”
14 And Azor begot Zadoc, and Zadoc begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.
14 So they said, “Some  say  that  You are John the Baptist, some, Elijah, and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
15 And Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
17 And Jesus replied and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, because flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child from the Holy Spirit.
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you will bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you will loose  on  earth  will  be  loosed  in heaven.”
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary your wife, because that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should not tell anyone that He was Jesus the Christ.
21 And she will bear a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, because He will save His people from their sins.
21 From that time forward Jesus began to show to His disciples how that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:
22 Then Peter took Him aside, and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Let this be far from You Lord; this will not happen to You!”
23 “Behold, a virgin will be with child, and will bear a Son, and they will call His name Immanuel,” which being translated is, “God with us.”
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me Satan! You are an offense to Me, because, you are not thinking things that are of God, but those that are of man.”
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took to him his wife,
24 Then said Jesus to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
25 and did not know her until she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
25 Because, whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever desires to lose his life for My sake will find it.
26 Because, what does a man profit if he gains the entire world, and loses his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 Because, the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward everyone according to his works.
28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death, until they see the Son of Man
coming in His kingdom.
