'''Minuscule 174''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), ε 109 ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Soden]]), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. Dated by a [[Colophon (publishing)|colophon]] to the 1052.[1]

== Description ==

The codex contains the text of the four [[Gospel]]s on 132 thick parchment leaves (size 24.6 cm by 19 cm),[1] with three [[Lacuna (manuscripts)|lacunae]] (Matt. 1:1-2:1; John 1:1-27; 8:47-21:25).[2]

Written in two columns per page, in 30 lines per page (size of text 18.2 cm by 6.5 cm),[1] in brown-red ink, capital letters in red.[2]

It contains tables of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonian Sections, [[Eusebian Canons]], lectionary markings, ρηματα, [[Stichometry|στιχοι]], and subscriptions.[2]

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Caesarean text-type]]. The manuscript is a member of textual [[Family 13]].

== History ==

The manuscript was written by the monk Constantine "tabernis habitante", "cum praeessent praefecturae Georgilas dux Calabriae".[3][2] The codex, together with [[Minuscule 173|173]], [[Minuscule 175|175]], [[Minuscule 176|176]], and [[Minuscule 177|177]], was brought from the Library of the Basilian monks.[3]

It was examined by [[Giuseppe Bianchini|Bianchini]], [[Andrew Birch|Birch]], [[Johann Martin Augustin Scholz|Scholz]], Rendel Harris, and Ferrar.[2]

It is currently housed at the [[Vatican Library]] (Vat. gr. 2002), at [[Rome]].[1]
