'''Minuscule 669''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), ε 1025 ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Soden]]), known as ''Benton Gospels'', is a Greek [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. Dated [[Paleography|paleographically]] to the 11th century (or 10th century - Aland).[1]

== Description ==

The codex contains the text of the four [[Gospel]]s on 272 parchment leaves (19.6 cm by 16.6 cm) with two [[Lacuna (manuscripts)|Lacunae]] (Matthew 1:1-27:58; Luke 1:1-2:16). Written in one column per page, 17 lines per page in minuscule letters. The codex contains κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, pictures, the Ammonian sections, and the [[Eusebian Canons]] numbers. Tables of κεφαλαια and [[Synaxarion]] were added by a later hand.[3]

Luke 22:43.44 and John 5:3.4 marked by [[obelus]].[2]

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Byzantine text-type]]. [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] placed it in [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts#Category V|Category V]].[3]
It belongs to the textual family [[Family Kx|Family Kx]].[4]

== History ==

It was written in [[Constantinople]]. The manuscript was brought to America in 1844 from [[Crete]], by George Benton. In 1913 it was presented to the [[General Theological Seminary]] in [[New York City]]. It was examined by [[J. Rendel Harris]]. The manuscript was digitalized by [[Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts|CSNTM]] in 2007.

Currently it is part of Private Collection Ch. C. Ryrie in Dallas.[1]
