'''Minuscule 479''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), δ 2491 (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Von Soded|Soden]] numbering), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. [[Paleography|Paleographically]] it had been assigned to the 13th century.[1]
Scrivener labelled it by number 542.[2]

== Description ==

The codex contains the whole text of the [[New Testament]] except [[Book of Revelation|Book of Apocalypse]] on 231 parchment leaves (size {{×|17.5|13}}). Written in one column per page, 29 lines per page.[3]
It contains tables of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, lectionary markings, αναγνοωσεις, [[Stichometry|στιχοι]], subscriptions, and scholia of [[John Chrysostom|Chrysostom]]. It does not contain the τιτλοι, Ammonian Sections, and [[Eusebian Canons]].[3][2]
It has [[Euthalius|Euthalian]] apparatus to the Acts, Catholic, and Pauline epistles. The order of books: Gospels, Acts of the Apostles, Catholic epistles, and Pauline epistles.[3]
It contains the pericope [[Jesus and the woman taken in adultery|John 7:53-8:11]] but marked with [[obelus]].[4]

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Byzantine text-type]]. [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] placed it in [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts#Category V|Category V]].[5]
It belongs to the textual family [[Family Kr|Family Kr]].[6]

== History ==

Formerly the manuscript belonged to the monastery του μετεωρου. The manuscript once belonged to Bishop of [[Caesarea Palaestina]]. It was bought by in 1837 by [[Christian Wordsworth]] († 1885), Bishop of Lincoln, and bears a stamp ''Biblioteca [[Suchtelen]]'' (Russian Ambassador at Stockholm).[2]

The manuscript was examined and collated by [[Frederick Henry Ambrose Scrivener|Scrivener]], who published its text in 1852.[4] The manuscript was added to the list of New Testament manuscripts by Scrivener. Gregory saw it in 1883.

It is currently housed at the [[Selly Oak College]] (Cod. Migdana Gr. 3) in [[Birmingham]].[1]
