'''Minuscule 224''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), ε 1212 ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Soden]]), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. [[Paleography|Paleographically]] it had been assigned to the 12th century.[1]

== Description ==

The codex contains only the text of the [[Gospel of Matthew]], on 97 parchment leaves (size 14 cm by 11.8 cm).[1] Written in one column per page, 19 lines per page.[2] It contains lists of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonian Sections, lectionary markings, [[Synaxarion|synaxaria]], [[Menologion]], and subscriptions.[3] It does not contain the [[Eusebian Canons]].[2]

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Byzantine text-type]]. [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] placed it in [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts#Category V|Category V]].[4]

== History ==

According to Gregory the manuscript was written in [[Calabria]]. In 1716 it was in Naples and belonged to [[Eusebius Caraccioli]]. It was examined by Treschow and [[Francis Karl Alter|Alter]].[2] Alter used it in his edition of the Greek text of the New Testament.[5]

Formerly it was held at the Imperial Library at Vienna (Suppl. Gr. 97).[2] It is currently housed at the [[Biblioteca Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele III|Biblioteca Nazionale]] (Cod. Neapol. ex Vind. 10), at [[Naples]].[1]
