'''Minuscule 172''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), α 404 ([[Biblical manuscript#Von Soden|Soden]]), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. [[Palaeography|Paleographically]] it had been assigned to th 13th or the 14th century.[1]
Formerly it was labeled by 178a, 242p, and 87r.[2]

== Description ==

The codex contains the text of the [[Acts of the Apostles]], [[Pauline epistles]], [[Book of Revelation]]s on 234 parchment leaves (size 24 cm by 16 cm) with numerous [[Lacuna (manuscripts)|lacunae]].[1] Written in one column per page, in 24-30 lines per page.[1][3]
The Pauline epistles are written in smaller than the rest.[2]
It contains prolegomena, tables of κεφαλαια (to Pauline epistles), κεφαλαια, lectionary markings, incipits, αναγνωσεις, subscriptions, and [[Stichometry|στιχοι]].[3]

== History ==

It was examined by [[Andrew Birch|Birch]], [[Johann Martin Augustin Scholz|Scholz]], and Scrivener.[3] Scrivener in 18556 fully collated Apocalypse.[2]

It is currently housed at the [[Berlin State Library]] (Phill. 1461), at [[Berlin]].[1]
