'''Bruce Rogers''' (May 14, 1870 - May 21, 1957) was an American [[typographer]] born in [[Lafayette, Indiana]]. He is one of the best known and regarded typographers of the twentieth century.

Known mostly for his use of typography in book design rather than typeface design, Rogers designed several faces including [[Centaur (typeface)|Centaur]], a project for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was a member of [[the Typophiles]]. Rogers designed more than 400 books. He is perhaps best known for his masterpiece, the [[Oxford Lectern Bible]].

Rogers received a B.S. from [[Purdue University]] in 1890. At Purdue, he worked with political cartoonist [[John T. McCutcheon]] on the student newspaper and yearbook. In later life, Rogers and his wife donated a substantial collection of books, early manuscripts, and antique furniture to Purdue University's Special Collection Library.

Rogers died on May 18, 1957 in [[New Fairfield, Connecticut]]. His papers are in the collection of the [[Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library]].
