[[Palaeography|Palaeographically]] it had been assigned to the 12th century.<sup>[1]</sup> 
Scrivener labeled it by number 589.<sup>[2]</sup>

== Description ==

The codex contains the text of the four [[Gospel]]s on 235 parchment leaves (size {{×|21.5|16}}) with one [[Lacuna (manuscripts)|lacunae]] (Matthew 1:1-8:5). Written in one column per page, 22 lines per page.<sup>[1]</sup> It contains Prolegomena, tables of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, Ammonian Sections, [[Eusebian Canons]], lectionary markings, incipits, [[Synaxarion]], [[Menologion]], and subscriptions.<sup>[3]</sup><sup>[2]</sup>

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a representative of the [[Byzantine text-type]]. [[Hermann von Soden]] included it to the textual family [[Family Kx|K<sup>x</sup>]].<sup>[4]</sup> [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] placed it in [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts#Category V|Category V]].<sup>[5]</sup>

== History ==

The manuscript was written by one Leo. Formerly it belonged to the monastery of St. Maximus. In 1853 it was bought together with [[Minuscule 503]] from [[Constantine Simonides]].<sup>[3]<sup>[2]</sup> 

It was examined by Bloomfield, Scrivener, and Gregory.<sup>[3]</sup>

It is currently housed at the [[British Library]] (Additional Manuscripts, 19387) in [[London]].<sup>[1]</sup>
