'''Minuscule 453''' (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Gregory-Aland|Gregory-Aland]] numbering), A<sup> πρ40</sup> (in the [[Biblical manuscript#Von Soded|Soden]] numbering), is a [[Greek language|Greek]] [[Lower case|minuscule]] [[manuscript]] of the [[New Testament]], on parchment. [[Paleography|Paleographically]] it had been assigned to the 14th century.<sup>[1]</sup> 
Formerly it was labelled by 81<sup>a</sup>.<sup>[2]</sup> 

== Description ==

The codex contains the text of the [[Acts of the Apostles]], [[Catholic epistles]] on 295 parchment leaves (35&nbsp;cm by 27.3&nbsp;cm). Written in two columns per page, in 32 lines per page.<sup>[1]</sup> Letters written above lines. It contains Prolegomena to the Acts, tables of κεφαλαια to the Acts, κεφαλαια to the Acts, τιτλοι in Acts and epistles, a commnentary.<sup>[3]</sup> 

== Text ==

The Greek text of the codex is a mixture of text-types. [[Kurt Aland|Aland]] placed it in [[Categories of New Testament manuscripts#Category III|Category III]].<sup>[4]</sup>

In [[Acts 8:37]] it has additional verse together with the manuscripts [[Codex Basilensis]], [[Minuscule 323|323]], [[Minuscule 945|945]], [[Minuscule 1739|1739]], [[Minuscule 1891|1891]], [[Minuscule 2818|2818]] (formerly 36<sup>a</sup>), and several others.<sup>[5]</sup>

In [[Acts 8:39]] instead of πνεῦμα κυρίου (''spirit of the Lord'') it has unusual textual variant πνεῦμα ἅγιον ἐπέπεσεν ἐπὶ τὸν εὐνοῦχον, ἄγγελος δέ κυρίου ἥρπασεν τὸν Φίλιππον (''the Holy Spirit fell on the eunuch, and an angel of the Lord caught up Philip'') supported by several minuscule manuscripts: [[Codex Alexandrinus]], [[Minuscule 94|94]], [[Minuscule 103|103]], [[Minuscule 307|307]], [[Minuscule 322|322]], [[Minuscule 323|323]], [[Minuscule 385|385]], [[Minuscule 467|467]], [[Minuscule 945|945]], [[Minuscule 1739|1739]], [[Minuscule 1765|1765]], [[Minuscule 1891|1891]], [[Minuscule 2298|2298]], [[Minuscule 2818|36<sup>a</sup>]], it<sup>p</sup>, vg, syr<sup>h</sup>.<sup>[6]</sup>

In [[Acts 20:28]] it reads του κυριου — [[Papyrus 74]] [[Codex Alexandrinus|A]] [[Codex Ephraemi|C*]] [[Codex Bezae|D]] [[Codex Laudianus|E]] [[Codex Athous Lavrensis|Ψ]] [[Minuscule 33|33]] [[Minuscule 36|36]] 945 1739 [[MInuscule 1891|1891]], instead of Alexandrian του Θεου or Byzantine του κυριου και του Θεου.<sup>[7]</sup>

The manuscript was examined by [[Andrew Birch|Birch]] and [[Johann Martin Augustin Scholz|Scholz]].<sup>[2]</sup>

It is currently housed at the [[Vatican Library]] (Barb. gr. 582) in [[Rome]].<sup>[1]</sup>
